Also known as “FashionScape” is the fashion meta of the popular titular MMO. The game possesses a cosmetic to overwrite system that allows quite the host of imagination, or as you see non-imagination. Released shortly after the sell and (depending who you ask) over monetization of the company certain mindsets and cultural aspects get expressed.

While the combinations of models a player can create are vast I am going to characterize a few trends. This is not exhaustive just what is easily viewable in all of the social areas.

Nothing at all

The player will not interact with the system either because they don't know it exists, or some moral hatred of JaGeX’s business practices. When interviewed they will rant about the integrity of the game. I'm including players that simply remove the helmet here too. Functionally this allows the player to enjoy the facial animations of the avatar when interacting with NPCs.

Really nothing at all

For some reason the clothing of the new player unarmored is appealing. You will commonly see players looking unarmored in various (usually shorts and a t-shirt) aspects of light skill-inspired cloth clothing wrapped in a cape and a hat or sunglasses. Maybe a few expensive items

Absolutely nothing at all

Take the above and remove the top. Sometimes it's just a swimsuit, as naked as they can get. Save a cape, crown, and maybe some wings.

High Fantasy Stripper

The above but add some variant of plate-legs or plate-skirt. If thoughtful a poorly supported bra, boob armor, or for the males an armband, straps, or just nothing. Sometimes it can be armored but the rule is abs and/or cleavage out.

Thoughtful Armor

An unorthodox assortment of armor that matches the game's fantasy setting that protects the player. It can be expensive, made from common goods, rare untradable items, or hard-to-obtain items. Either way, it just seems to come together as a warrior, or fantasy cosplay.

Period Piece

A specific level of armor that is not best in slot. On examine the player is wearing higher-level armor. The look could be mismatched with older era designs to convey they are emulating best in slot gear of a specific game era.

This weeks release

A mash of the latest released cosmetics

Remember that one NPC?

Sometimes JaGeX releases NPC armors, and you see people dressed up like them. This doesn't include the game developers pulling pranks.

I really like this one color!

Occasionally you will see a person with dyed skin, matching armor, and a cape.

Diced

An abhorrent display of money. This is usually best in slot items for a combat style, then dyed an unimaginative color much like above.

Diced and Rare

Again expensive rare items, of a full set. Not died, matching cape if it makes sense, maybe with a dumb runscapian party hat that may or may not be matching.

Santa?

Every variation of Santa Claus or a burdened fantasy traveler you can imagine.

Conclusion

This list is not exhaustive and there are subclasses, but this is what I see so commonly and thought to write about. It can be so game breaking at times. This is just the overrides, don't get me started on the animations.
